At the end......

At the end of this english class, my advice to future students is to start early on your final paper. The final paper of a scientific research paper, is a long drawn out process. I advise them to start the research process as soon as a strong topic and a starting thesis statement is completed. Once some of the research is done, perfecting the thesis statement is easier. I think the more research they have to choose from will make the writing and re-writing process easier. I also, would like to remind them to use the resource writing center and to remember to call onto the instructor for knowledge and clarification.

I think the one thing I learned through this class, is the editing process. I have learned to make the revision process simpler. After I revise and edit I let someone read it to me. Once I hear it second hand, it is easier to know what does not sound clear, and I am to edit my paper. My weakest, or the thing I need to improve on is my time mangement. I should have started my second draft on my paper sooner than I did. I felt that I rushed my final paper. I did the research process early, I just put off my editing and revision process late. I will use the writing skills that I learned in this class throughout my college career.

I have no  real words of wisdom. This class was fun but stressful. There were some great students in this class, and I wish them all well. The instructor is great and very knowledgeable, I also, wish her well.

Final paper, How do I feel at this point?

Well, now that the paper is ALMOST done, I feel nervous, tired, and a little excited. I am glad that this is the end on the session. I am nervous because I still have a lot more to work on before posting my paper. I am nervous that it will not be in the correct APA format. I am nervous that my paper will not flow when Professor Barb reads it. I am nervous that I will make an "F" on this paper. I am just a nervous nelly when it comes to final papers. I would like to finish strong in this class, and to make a good grade on this paper will be wonderful. I like writing, I like the discussion boards and even some of the projects that we did. I do not however, like to do research papers. I don't like doing the research. I like the actual part of writing when I am writing about me and my experiences. I will give this paper my all, and pray for the best.

Blogging, Like or Dislike??

Well, I must say I am not into blogging. I did not receive many comments on my blogs throughout this course. I did not make many comments to my classmates blogs, either. This was not very interesting to me. I will not continue to blog once this class is over. If I would have gotten more comments, I think I would have been more interested in blogging. I do not blog or tweet. I do however like facebook, I think because of the games that are on the link.

Writing Process

Well, I did not have any writing "AH-HA's" during my writing process. I had a hard time starting this paper. I had an even harder time writing my conclusion. I think if I was to get the APA format down pat, that I would not have so much anxiety about writing this paper. I wish everyone much luck on their paper. I did not like doing the peer review. I feel that I do not have enough expierence with writing papers to be able to tell someone else what is needed in their paper. I think that is why I put it off to last. I just do not want to hurt anyone's feelings. I, on the other hand, would like the extra eyes on my paper. I however appreciate the comments made by the professor on the paper the most.

For the last 6 weeks

For the last 6 weeks I have been working full time, going to school, and raising two boys on my own. I work 5 days a week Monday thru Friday. I work 40 to 50 hours a week. My 10 year old is in the 5th grade. Do you know how much homework a 5th grader has? We work on homework for up to 3 to 4 hours a night sometimes. These last 6 weeks has been stressful and entertaining. I love school, and I love the things I am learning. I am shakey on this writing a scientific paper thing. It is hard to ensure that I argue my topic and not just make it informative. I will continue to work on my paper.

No Kids

So my kids went off to stay with my sister for a couple of days. I can't believe that both the 10 and 4 year old left. I am used to my 10 year old going off to spend the night with one family member or the next. I was totally shocked that my 4 year old left my side rather quickly. Is the days of me referring to him as "my baby" over with, is he a big boy now????? Am I ready to make the transition from having to 1 big boy and 1 little boy, to 2 big boys?? He has been telling me he is a big boy for a while now, I guess it is true. So now I am the mother of 2 big boys. Oh goodness, such a big step for me and little family. I did enjoy the quiet time to finish up my first draft of my paper. I think I could have used a whole week of quiet time to work on this paper, it was challenging.
